Tillandsia is one of the natural wonders in the garden. It is part of the Tillandsia genus, which includes about 650 species of plants. Air plants grow on other plants, rocks, or on the forest floor in Central and South America. They obtain nutrients and water from the moisture in the air and do not require soil. The leaves are large, long, and pointed, while the flowers resemble flames. Their decoration is pale pink, and under high humidity, blue delicate flowers appear at the top. It is also called an "air plant" because it does not need soil to thrive. Tillandsia has the ability to absorb water and nutrients through its leaves. It has roots, but they are poorly developed and serve only for stability.

Exposure: Air plants prefer bright but diffused light. You can place them on an eastern or western window sill, protecting them from direct sunlight throughout the day.

Watering: Air plants are not watered with liquid like other plants, but they are moistened with a sprayer or by soaking them in water for about 10 minutes once a week. After that, let the excess water drain off and return it to its place.

Fertilization: Since this plant is an epiphyte, it does not require many nutrients, but they are still necessary for its normal development. Fertilizing air plants can be done in two ways: liquid fertilization and dry fertilization.

Dry fertilization is done by placing small dosages of fertilizer on the plant. This can be a special fertilizer from the store, but finely chopped wood bark or another material can also be used. The fertilizer is left on the plant for a day or two and then brushed off with a soft brush or rinsed with water.

Liquid fertilization can be done using a special liquid fertilizer, such as the one included in this kit.

Pests and diseases of air plants are very rare, but they should still be monitored. If you notice spots, sticky exudation, or other unusual symptoms, you can try to wash the plant with a soft sponge and water.
